Lettuce is an annual plant of the daisy family, Asteraceae. It is most often grown as a leaf vegetable, but sometimes for its stem and seeds. Usually eaten raw in the form of salads, lettuce can also be braised, sauteed and used in a variety of vegetable based recipes. Stuff it inside your sandwiches, shred and toss it in your salad, spread and roll it up in a chapati, or snip, cut and mix it in your meals.
